Resuscitiamo un IC-PCR100 per usarlo in congiunzione con un ricevitore SDR HF

SDR con prestazioni buone in VHF-UHF-SHF sono ancora "in gestazione".
Il mio attuale atteggiamento e' quello di accoppiare dei ricevitori convenzionali aggiungendo una uscita IF a banda relativamente alta , collegata ad un SDR .
Essendomi attualmente "giocato" l' ICR-1500 di stazione per l'uso del radar passivo GRAVES con il quale stiamo studiando assieme ad altri appassionati alcune caratteristiche relative alle meteore , che normalmente era collegato al Perseus o al Ciao Radio tramite una uscita IF a 10.7 MHz , mi trovo ora a correre ai ripari .
Per non mettere mano al portafoglio , avendo un IC-PCR100 non usato, la prima idea e' quella di usare questo ricevitore come convertitore .
Il primo problema e' stato quello di recuperare il software .
Icom non fornisce piu' supporto e quasi tutto , se non a pagamento,  e' "sparito dalla rete " .
Il primo sistema e' quello di usare il software del PCR-1000 .
Ovviamente molti comandi non sono supportati , ma funziona .
"Sgattando" nelle scatole sono riuscito a trovare quella del IC-PCR100 dove ho trovato i due dischetti originali .
In "religiosa preghiera" , usando un lettore di dischetti USB , sono riuscito a ricomporre il software .

Ho messo il tutto assieme ai manuali (compreso il manuale di servizio con gli schemi) in un file scaricabile all' indirizzo :

Le buone notizie sono due :

A) Funziona perfettamente anche con Windows 7
B) Funziona anche con una poco costosa interfaccia USB-RS232 .

E' sufficiente nelle configurazioni avanzate della scheda di interfaccia , andare a settare l'indirizzo della COM ( tramite le impostazioni avanzate ) con un numero tra quelli settabili dal Software
( possibile da 1 a 9 ).
Il tutto operando nel Pannello di controllo/Sistema di Windows 7.

I risultati sono nelle due immagini seguenti .

Non resta ora che creare una uscita IF e sperare che l'SSB noise ed il jitter dell' Oscillatore Locale siano buoni .

Il software ha anche altre possibilità di visualizzazione di controllo a "componenti".

NEWS UP-Converter per SDR

Ecco un nuovo UP-Converter HF bilanciato progettato per andare con il TV28T dongle Newsky. Viene fornito con un MCX maschio di buona qualità. Il Converter utilizza un oscillatore da 50 MHz e un doppio mixer bilanciato NE602AN.
Questo convertitore HF non è adatto per i dongle E4000.

Abbinato ad una classica chiavetta SDR si potrà ottenere un ricevitore da pochi Khz a circa 2 Ghz.

L'oggetto è acquistabile on-line su Ebay a un prezzo contenuto; viene venduto separatamente o abbinato ad una chiavetta SDR con possibilità di vari adattatori per la connessione dell'antenna esterna e software dedicato.

Esempio di differenza di pulizia del segnale usando cavo e connettori di qualità superiore.

Antenna loop magnetica NSML

L’ antenna loop magnetica NSML ( non symmetric magnetic loop) vengono costruite in  diversi modelli per le gamme HF, complete di tuner manuale o automatico

La NSML ha un altissimo rendimento in quanto il Loop è formato da una spira in tubo di alluminio saldata direttamente sul CV di sintonia stesso metallo fresato da massello allo scopo di ridurre al minimo le perdite per effetto JOULE, in più la particolare costruzione del CV irrigidisce l’antenna rendendola autoportante e di aspetto gradevolissimo.

Il particolare tratto verticale su di un lato della circonferenza, da luogo ad un campo magnetico cilindrico anzichè toroiadale con un vantaggio di guadagno FRONT/REAR > di 2 dB misurato con HP3586A a 4 Km.

VOA Radiogram, The Mighty KBC , 3-4 May 2014

Hello friends,

VOA Radiogram for the weekend of 3-4 May (program 57) will be all MFSK32 except for the surprise mode during the closing music.

There will be some interesting VOA News items, including amateur radio from the permanently berthed ship Queen Mary, and legislation that could result in major changes to the Voice of America and the rest of U.S. international broadcasting.

Si trova (forse ancora) nel mercato del surplus. Molti appassionati lo hanno riciclato in vari modi.

Serata tecnica ARI LOANO (SV) sul tema: RASPBERRY, LINUX e OM - 16 maggio 2014

Come tradizione, la sezione ARI di Loano (SV) organizza serate dedicate alla divulgazione di aspetti tecnici del nostro hobby.

Questa volta tratteremo un argomento che può interessare anche i patiti di computer, oltrechè di radio: il sistema operativo LINUX applicato ai piccoli computer tipo RASPERRY e BEAGLE.

Ecco come si svolgerà la serata:

comincierà Domenico IW1BI con una panoramica sul sistema operativo LINUX.

Proseguirà Mauro IK1WVQ parlando delle caratteristiche e le potenzialità dei nuovi "Single Board Computer".

Finita così la (breve) parte teorica "attiveremo" insieme un RASPBERRY PI partendo da zero, in modo che ci si possa rendere conto di quanto semplice sia l'installazione di LINUX e la configurazione di questi piccoli sistemi.

Poi vedremo le interessanti applicazioni pratiche relative al nostro mondo OM.
