VOA Radiogram 2-3 May NEW FREQUENCY !

Hello friends,

This weekend the VOA Radiogram broadcast Saturday at 1600-1630 UTC moves to the new frequency of 17870 kHz. This replaces 17860 kHz, which was suffering interference from Radio Exterior de España on 17855 kHz. For those of you using low cost radios with less selectivity, please let me know in 17870 kHz provides enough separation from 17855 kHz.

VOA Radiogram begins this weekend with a rather lengthy but, I hope, interesting story about a new report on world press freedom.

Here is the lineup for VOA Radiogram, program 109, 2-3 May 2015, all in MFSK32 except where noted:

 1:32  Program preview
2:45  Freedom House report on world press freedom*
14:12  BBC adds shortwave transmissions for Nepal
17:09  Mobile phone ownership increases in Africa
21:21  Computer servers heat homes in the Netherlands*
27:12  Closing announcements*
28:39  Thor 16: Bonus mode of the week

Thank you for your reception reports for last weekend's broadcast.  I have not yet finished answering all the reports from program 107, 18-19 April 2015, because of a busy week involving my audience research tasks for VOA and the U.S. International Broadcasting Bureau. I hope to catch up with the correspondence this weekend.

VOA Radiogram, The Mighty KBC , 17-18 May

Hello friends,

Because I will be away from the office most of the rest of May, I will generally not be able to respond to your emails until early June.

Looking ahead: VOA Radiogram on 31 May and 1 June 2014 will be the "VOA Radiogram Picture Show." We will experiment with the X1, X2, and X4 transmission speeds of MFSK images, using MFSK32, 64, and 128. And we will transmit an EasyPal image. Download the EasyPal software from vk4aes.com . For practice, radio amateurs transmit EasyPal images (mostly with Internet assistance) on 14233 kHz.

Here is the lineup for VOA Radiogram, program 59, 17-18 May 2014 (MFSK32 centered on 1500 Hz):

The Mighty Kbc continua i suoi test sui 9,925 khz

Arriva decisamente forte il segnale trasmesso da Nauen in Germania di The Mighty Kbc che continua le sue "trasmissioni test" verso il North America. Ecco l'annuncio pubblicato dalla direzione della radio in lingua inglese.

The Mighty KBC broadcast again early this morning (from 00:00-02:00 UTC) on their new summer frequency of 9,925 kHz. Their signal from Nauen, Germany was packing 125 kW–it was amazingly strong into North America.

As we’ve come to expect, the KBC’s Giant Jukebox of music has a lot of rock-n-roll and Euro-pop variety, spanning the decades; DJ, “Uncle Eric” knows how to entertain and spin the tunes!

Doppio test settimanale per The Mighty Kbc

QSL da The Mighty KBC sui 6095 kHz

The Mighty KBC mi ha confermato un rapporto di ascolto spedito in diretta mentre ascoltavo la buona musica che mandava on air sui 6095 kHz. Si trattava della trasmissione test dell'11 aprile 2012. La QSL è arrivata via mail in poche ore. L'indirizzo è il solito themightykbc (at) gmail.com e a rispondere è il gentilissimo Eric van Willegen.

Ecco come arrivava. A bomba!
