WORLD RADIO DAY 2021

Proclaimed in 2011 by the Member States of UNESCO, and adopted by the United Nations General Assembly in 2012 as an International Day, February 13 became World Radio Day (WRD).

Radio is a powerful medium for celebrating humanity in all its diversity and constitutes a platform for democratic discourse. At the global level, radio remains the most widely consumed medium. This unique ability to reach out the widest audience means radio can shape a society’s experience of diversity, stand as an arena for all voices to speak out, be represented and heard. Radio stations should serve diverse communities, offering a wide variety of programs, viewpoints and content, and reflect the diversity of audiences in their organizations and operations.

    CELEBRATIONS IN 2021

    On the occasion of World Radio Day 2021 (WRD 2021), UNESCO calls on radio stations to celebrate this event’s 10th anniversary and the more than 110 years of radio.

    This edition of WRD is divided into three main sub-themes:

    • EVOLUTION. The world changes, radio evovles.
      This sub-theme refers to the resilience of the radio, to its sustainability ;
    • INNOVATION. The world changes, radio adapts and innovate.
      Radio has had to adapt to new technologies to remain the go-to medium of mobility, accessible everywhere and to everyone;
    • CONNECTION. The world changes, radio connects.
      This sub-theme highlights radio’s services to our society—natural disasters, socio-economic crises, epidemics, etc.

    All material is copyright free and may be used to promote World Radio Day.

    Una bella giornata per la radio

    Attività di Italradio
    (LC, 13 Feb 2012) - Pisa, ancora una volta all'avanguardia nella ricerca radiofonica, ha celebrato la prima giornata mondiale della radio con un seminario presso la Facoltà di Ingegneria al quale hanno contribuito con originali studi esperti e un numeroso pubblico al quale si sono aggiunti gli ascoltatori di Italwebradio. Collegamento diretto con Ondamedia Broadcast.

    Ai saluti dei proff. Corsini e Dalle Mese, che hanno sottolineato l'importanza storica e l'attualità delle ricerche radiofoniche a Pisa in oltre cento anni di attività, hanno fatto seguito gli studi del prof. Giannetti dedicato alle tecnologie radiofoniche del XXI secolo, dell'ing. Romboli sulla possibilità di utilizzare l'onda media di Coltano in DRM, di Francesco Cito sulla attività di Radioeco, la radio universitaria di Pisa e di Luigi Cobisi sulla documentazione radiofonica. Ha animato il dibattito il giornalista Antonello Riccelli, presidente dell'UCSI Toscana, che - con gli amici di Italradio - ha consegnato il Tricolore della Radio 2012 alla signora Paola Bernardini, della Biblioteca Comunale Centrale di Pisa, per le ricerche su Marconi e la stazione di Coltano.
    Una mostra con i materiali della ricerca, resa possibile dalla collaborazione dell'ing. Mario Michelini e della signora Graciela Stiavetti della DGMP, è in corso al Dipartimento di Ingegneria dell'Informazione.
    Eccezionale esperimento sulla Italwebradio con il collegamento in rete da Pisa e la ripresa in diretta da Ondamediabroadcast (1512 kHz nell'area di Bologna) che ha dimostrato l'opportunità di una valida cooperazione tra media diversi a servizio della comunicazione scientifica.
    Interesse da parte della stampa locale che ha sottolineato come da Pisa siano passati avvenimenti storici della radiodiffusione tra i quali l'accensione del Cristo Redentore al Corcovado di Rio avvenuto nel 1931 con un impulso da Coltano. Ampio servizio di Tele Granducato e contributi sonori su Radio Capodistria (Media Partner dell'evento) Radio Svizzera Rete Due, Radio Vaticana, Radio Romania Internazionale.
